During the Week, Meta related an update enabling AI in it ubiquitous messaging platform WhatsApp. According to the company, “… this feature is designed to streamline user interaction with Meta AI, offering suggestions and prompts within the search interface itself, eliminating the need for manual navigation to the Meta AI chat.”
I prompted the Meta AI to create an image of AI on WhatsUp in Mountains and below is the AI generated image right inside the WA App in my phone. Phew!
Last two years have raised some important questions about the use of AI in our professional and personal lives and about what the future holds. Let me focus on four key questions-
How would we cope with the cheapening and democratization of their skill set as a result of Artificial Intelligence available to the enterprises ?
Will AI and AGI innovations help spark an honest and far reaching discussion about our value and contribution to the world at large?
With AI augmenting various aspects of work, how can young managers navigate the balance between leveraging automation and honing uniquely human skills such as emotional intelligence and creativity?
As AI continues to evolve, what strategies can young managers adopt to continuously upskill and stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive job market driven by technological advancements?
In the transformative landscape of the digital era, Mastering AI and automation, Overcoming challenges in value creation, Valuing human skills, and Embracing continuous learning are paramount. The MOVE framework encapsulates these pivotal aspects that shape the future of work and skills development. Let's delve deeper into how digital tech platforms are driving innovation, facilitating collaboration, and empowering individuals to thrive in this dynamic environment.
Mastering AI and Automation : In today's digital age, mastering AI and automation has become crucial for individuals and businesses alike. Digital tech platforms are playing a significant role in this aspect by providing tools and resources for AI development and automation implementation. For instance, platforms like Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services offer a wide range of AI and machine learning services, including natural language processing, image recognition, and predictive analytics. These platforms enable businesses to build AI-powered applications, automate processes, and make data-driven decisions.
Overcoming Challenges in Value Creation : The concept of value creation in the digital era encompasses more than just monetary gains. It involves creating meaningful experiences, solving problems, and making a positive impact on society. Digital tech platforms contribute to value creation by facilitating innovation, collaboration, and access to resources. For example, platforms like GitHub and Stack Overflow empower developers to collaborate on coding projects, share knowledge, and solve technical challenges collectively. Similarly, platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning provide online courses and resources for upskilling and continuous learning, enabling individuals to enhance their value proposition in the job market.
Valuing Human Skills in a Tech-driven Era : While technology is advancing rapidly, human skills such as creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability remain indispensable. Digital tech platforms recognize the importance of these skills and offer tools and opportunities to nurture and showcase them. Platforms like Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud empower individuals to express their creativity through design tools and templates. LinkedIn and professional networking platforms provide a platform for showcasing skills, networking with peers, and accessing career development resources. These platforms emphasize the value of human skills alongside technological proficiency in today's tech-driven era.
Embracing Continuous Learning and Upskilling : The rapid pace of technological innovation necessitates continuous learning and upskilling to stay relevant in the workforce. Digital tech platforms are instrumental in facilitating lifelong learning opportunities and skills development. Platforms like Khan Academy, Coursera, and edX offer a wide range of online courses on various subjects, from programming and data science to business and leadership skills. Additionally, platforms like LinkedIn Learning provide on-demand tutorials and workshops for acquiring new skills and enhancing existing ones. These platforms empower individuals to embrace continuous learning, adapt to new technologies, and future-proof their careers in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
The MOVE framework underscores the dynamic interplay between technology and human potential. As digital tech platforms continue to evolve, individuals and businesses must harness the power of AI and automation while also prioritizing value creation, human skills, and continuous learning. By leveraging these elements synergistically, we can navigate the complexities of the digital age, unlock new opportunities, and drive positive impact. Embracing a mindset of adaptability, innovation, and collaboration will be key in shaping a future where technology complements human ingenuity, leading to a more resilient, inclusive, and thriving workforce.

Over the Weekend, I watched Amar Singh Chamkila on Netflix. Having a singer from Punjab ( Diljit Dosanjh) play the lead role of Amar Singh Chamkila- also known as the 'Elvis Presley of Punjab' is a casting masterpiece and he does a wonderful job.
It is a well-intentioned effort and raises some interesting ideas. For example, on being questioned about how can he justify the vulgar songs he writes and sings with his wife, Chamkila replies-'Har kisi ki sahi galat sochne ki aukaat nahi hoti. Meri toh nahi hai. Mujhe toh bas zinda rehna hai'.
In the era of social media, where we keep discovering new villains , Chamkila’s point of catering to audience demand and not bothered by what the various interest groups including government thinks about his creative output, leaves us pondering about our choices and how we make them.
I grew up in Punjab in early 90’s when the life was slowly returning to normalcy and I recall hearing stories about the plight of artists like Chamkila torn between the government and the separatists. Coming from Belgaum , I was definitely scandalised by the content of his work but then left Punjab too soon to understand his STP (Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning). I was also drawn more to the mainstream punjabi folk of Hans Raaj Hans and Gurdaas Mann and occasional Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi.
Let me leave you with this poignant number by Pritam/Irshad Kamil and sung by Arijit Singh, Jonita Gandhi & Irshad Kamil.
I Love You.

I see the integration of AI and automation as both a challenge and an opportunity, in this era of relentless technological advancement.
The democratization of AI skills is like finding a big treasure chest of knowledge that anyone can open and become really good at something.
However, amidst this democratization, I find solace in the realization that our humanity remains our most precious asset, our emotional intelligence, creativity, and innate curiosity is what that set us apart.
For me, the essence of value creation lies not just in the outputs we generate but in the impact we have on the world around us. It's about finding that delicate balance between innovation and empathy, between pushing boundaries and staying grounded in our shared humanity.
MOVE framework represents more than just a roadmap; it's a manifesto for the future—a future where technology amplifies our potential but never eclipses our essence as human beings.
It's a future I'm excited to be a part of, where innovation and ingenuity (human creativity) converge to create a world that's as awe-inspiring as it is compassionate.
With the advent and interference of AI in every aspect of our life, I wonder what skills and knowledge set is required by humans so that they can survive in this competitive environment. The MOVE framework has rightfully described the ways in which we can "Move" ourselves to be on the same level with AI. Embracing continuous Learning and Upskilling is the way, which even our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi focuses on. In his recent conversation with Bill gates, he emphasized the role of humans in mastering the commands and prompts given to AI devices. He said that we should be creative enough to give commands to AI so that it improves itself continuously. He also suggested that we should compete with AI and strive to surpass its capabilities. This thought encourages us to think critically and creatively. I guess in the future we will need skills in terms of how to talk to AI and completely make use of its capabilities. This way we will also develop critical and creative thinking as well.
Although there are tools and apps which integrates AI, but people should know how to use it. These skills would be crucial in upcoming years. Even if you have numerous tools around you, you must be able to make use of it. Therefore, I believe having the right skills to utilize AI in terms of communicating, commanding and using it is important.
