Happy Makar Sankranti.
My fondest memories of Makar Sankranti are closely associated with visiting my maternal grandmother’s house in Lower Himalayas and eating the sankranti feast. It was Khichdi, Ghee, Sesame/til chutney and glass of milk with Marsha/Amaranth/Rajgira laddoo.

This is a recent picture but hopefully you get the drift! More on that later.

During the Week, Google said it will lay off hundreds at its Voice Assistant unit, while a few hundred roles are being eliminated in the hardware team responsible for Pixel, Nest and Fitbit, with the majority of people in the augmented reality (AR) team being let go. This could be seen in light of BigTech continued fascination with AI more specifically their bets on the rising adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology following the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT.
As luck would have it, two recent interactions with IBS Hyderabad alumni have reinforced my belief in blueprints rather than roadmaps. The crucial difference being preparing for career vs organising career.
Welcome to the ever-evolving landscape of the future of Work! As we venture into the uncharted territories of this world, our focus should not just be on the journey but on crafting a detailed blueprint for the life awaiting us. This is less of a roadmap and more a set of guiding principles because in this new world of work, traditional work would takes a back seat and novel work paradigms would emerge.
I would propose A.C.T. as anchors for world of work (WoW) in future.
A - Automation Allies: In this era of automation, our first anchor lies in forging alliances with the very technologies that redefine work. Platforms point to a new era of collaboration, where humans and machines work together, each playing to their strengths. In this world of work automation becomes not a threat, but a companion, freeing us from mundane tasks and offering a canvas for creativity.
C - Collaboration Canvas: As the traditional work structures fade, collaboration emerges as the beating heart of the post-work organism. Digital Tools like Slack and Trello become our digital canvas, where teams/groups weave their ideas seamlessly across borders and time zones. The focus shifts from hierarchical structures to networks of expertise, where collective intelligence reigns supreme.
T - Talent Tribes: In the absence of traditional job delineations, talent becomes the guiding force. Platforms like Upwork and Toptal pave the way for a dynamic marketplace where skills reign supreme. Individuals join tribes not based on employment contracts but on shared goals and complementary capabilities. This fluid talent ecosystem thrives on adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning.
The blueprint approach extends beyond the traditional confines of work to embrace a holistic approach to life. The future world of work is not just about tasks and productivity; it’s about crafting a life that aligns with personal values and passions.
We can use E.M.B.R.A.C.E. for Embracing a Holistic Life in this new world of work.
E - Experiential Living: Life post-work is an adventure, an exploration of experiences over possessions. Platforms like Airbnb and Viator take center stage, offering not just accommodation but curated experiences. The focus shifts from acquiring things to collecting moments, fostering a culture where living is an art, and experiences are the masterpiece.
M - Mindful Well-being: In the hustle of the work-centric world, well-being often takes a backseat. Post-work, platforms like Headspace and Calm guide us towards mindfulness and mental well-being. The emphasis is on holistic health, recognizing that a sound mind resides in a healthy body, creating a harmonious equilibrium.
B - Barter of Knowledge: In a world detached from the conventional job market, knowledge becomes the currency. Platforms like Coursera and Khan Academy facilitate a constant barter of knowledge, where learning is not a means to an end but a lifelong journey. The pursuit of knowledge becomes a shared value, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange.
R - Relationships Reinvented: Post-work living is inherently social, with platforms like Meetup and Bumble BFF fostering meaningful connections. Relationships are not confined to office spaces but extend to shared interests and passions. Communities form the backbone of our social fabric, transcending physical boundaries. Endurance sports communities provide a blueprint for creating communities that ends up influencing your entire life.
A - Authentic Expression: In the canvas of a new world of work, authenticity in our narratives and stories is very important. Platforms like Substack and Medium become mediums for authentic expression. The focus shifts from curated personas to genuine stories, celebrating individuality and embracing imperfections.
C - Creative Pursuits: As the shackles of traditional work loosen, creative pursuits take center stage. Platforms like Etsy and Behance become marketplaces for artisanal creations and digital masterpieces. Life is not just a series of tasks but a canvas for creative expression, where everyone is an artist in their unique way.
E - Eco-conscious Living: Our blueprint extends to the environment, with platforms like Ecosia and Too Good To Go championing eco-conscious choices. Sustainability is not a buzzword but a way of life, as we embrace practices that nurture the planet and ensure a harmonious coexistence.
To conclude, as we craft this blueprint approach for the future world of work, please remember that it's not just about the absence of traditional work but the presence of a life rich in experiences, connections, and personal growth. The journey into the beyond is both thrilling and transformative, and ACT to EMBRACE can serves as the path forward.

Over the Weekend, there was festive vibe everywhere in anticipation of Lohri and Sankranti.
Festivals provide a great avenue to meet friends and family while indulging in some mouth watering traditional delicacies. They also help us to orient ourselves with our tradition and culture as many of us are no more living in our native places. They bring us closer to our roots and perhaps remind us the importance of family and community.
The weekend as usual brought SLR (Sunday Long Run) to start tapering for the TMM 2024 (See you in Mumbai on 20-21 Jan 2024). There is so much joy to catch up with old and new runner friends. The new HealthWay near our community is a great place to run and cheer other friends.
Wishing you Happiness and Health.
I Love You
