During the Week, I had my first official interaction with the Summer Internship Program 2024 cohort of IBS Hyderabad MBA 2025. As usual, I am very excited and optimistic about the outcome of the internship. I believe that a well crafted internship experience can open up a world of opportunity for personal and professional growth. Over last few years, I have followed a mentoring approach focussed on on self awareness, personal branding , physical health and community service.
SUMMER represents a transformative journey for young adults entering internships and work. It encompasses Self-awareness, Understanding, Mindfulness, Meaningful Connections, Elevate, and Resilience. By embracing each facet, individuals can navigate their personal and professional growth with confidence, purpose, and resilience. Here is a quick breakdown of the process-
S - Self-awareness: Start by delving deep into your aspirations, strengths, and areas for growth. Utilize platforms like LinkedIn for professional reflection and personality assessments for insights into your unique traits and preferences.
Understanding your strengths and weaknesses is crucial for personal growth and career success. For instance, platforms like LinkedIn offer tools to showcase your skills and experiences to potential employers. By actively engaging with your network and seeking feedback, you can gain valuable insights into areas where you excel and areas where you can improve. Additionally, mindfulness apps can help you cultivate self-awareness by guiding you through exercises to increase self-reflection and emotional intelligence.
U - Understanding: Cultivate a compelling personal brand that mirrors your values and expertise. Leverage digital spaces to craft an authentic online presence, share insightful content, and network with industry peers. Consistently communicate your brand narrative across channels to establish trust and attract meaningful opportunities.
Digital platforms provide numerous opportunities to build and enhance your personal brand. For example, you can create a professional profile on LinkedIn to showcase your expertise, share articles, and connect with potential mentors or employers. Additionally, platforms like Medium or YouTube allow you to share your knowledge and insights with a wider audience through written articles or video content. By consistently producing high-quality content that aligns with your personal brand, you can establish yourself as a thought leader in your field.
M - Mindfulness: Prioritize your physical and mental well-being through mindful practices. Access fitness apps, online workouts, and nutritious recipes to nurture your body and mind. Infuse movement into your daily routine to enhance vitality and alleviate stress.
Digital platforms offer a wealth of resources to support your physical health goals. For example, fitness apps like Nike Training Club or Strava provide personalized workout plans and tracking tools to help you stay motivated and accountable. Additionally, platforms like YouTube offer a wide range of free workout videos, from yoga to high-intensity interval training, that you can do from the comfort of your home. By leveraging these digital tools, you can create a tailored fitness routine that fits your schedule and preferences.
If you are looking to get back to running or become more regular , then please register for Hundred Days of Running.
M - Meaningful Connections: Contribute to your community by volunteering your time and skills to worthy causes. Leverage digital channels to uncover volunteer opportunities, collaborate with nonprofits, and rally support for impactful initiatives. Engage in projects that foster positive change and uplift those in need.
Digital platforms play a vital role in facilitating community service initiatives and connecting volunteers with organizations in need. For instance, websites like VolunteerMatch or Idealist allow you to search for volunteer opportunities based on your interests, skills, and location. Social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram can also be powerful tools for raising awareness about important issues and organizing volunteer events. By leveraging these digital platforms, you can expand your impact and inspire others to join you in making a difference in your community.
E - Elevate: Continuously seek opportunities for growth and development. Embrace challenges as learning experiences, and leverage digital resources to acquire new skills, expand your knowledge, and advance your career. Stay curious, adaptable, and proactive in pursuing your goals.
R - Resilience: Cultivate resilience in the face of adversity and setbacks. Harness the power of digital platforms to seek support, connect with mentors, and find inspiration during challenging times. Embrace failure as a stepping stone to success and persevere with determination and grit. Not taking shortcuts or looking for easy way out counts!
This SUMMER framework provides a wholesome approach to personal and professional transformation, guiding young people on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and fulfillment. By embracing each facet of this acronym, all of us can unlock our full potential and thrive in both personal and professional lives.

Over the Weekend, I finished watching Alexander: The Making of a God on Netflix. To be fair, it is an interesting production with expert interviews, archeological insights and gripping reenactments to showcase the extraordinary life of Alexander the Great and his manifestation to conquer the world but seems forced and dragged multiple times.
The story is not new to all of us but what struck me was the narrative building by Alexander as soon as he sees his father murdered in court. He seizes upon the opportunity and turns the Macedonians against Persia. Throughout his campaign, he effectively uses symbols and moments to create a persona around himself. In modern times, we might call it an “imposter syndrome” or even “Fake it till You Make it“ that is pretty common amongst the hustling populace around us. He is also continuously seeking validation both as a military general and an emperor who would conquer the world. His visit to the shrine of Achilles in Troy or to the oasis Siwah in the Libyan desert, where he consulted the oracle of Ammon point to his desire for being accepted as a warrior and living god.
I also finished reading MegaThreats: Ten Dangerous Trends That Imperil Our Future, And How to Survive Them by Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini nicknamed “Dr. Doom”. While it looks scary when you read the book and it is definitely a cause of concern with these multiple threats converging at a rapid pace. The Good Thing- now that you know them what are you going to do about them! Do share your DoomsDay Prep Plan.
In the meanwhile, broaden your expectations and thus be ready for some bad things which would anyways happen.
I Love You
