Hahahaha.... Nice taunt of RCB sir..... But since the IPL is in UAE this time, RCB has an advantage as the pitches are different there.... More spin and ball will come on to the bat nicely..

But I think we have to wait for another year or so to experience the sport the way we were witnessing it PRE-COVID.

Now how I play my favourite sport in these tough times... Well I have a hanging and knocking ball at home... So I do few knocks everyday..... Though I just can't hit the ball as hard as I use to hit on ground but yeah I still get that satisfaction when I middle the ball on the bat.

Everything is moving to online mode now.... If you see the standup comedy shows have also shifted online..... Market is changing and so the way of working is.... People who haven't tried PUBG have switched to this game in this lockdown period.... I'm one of them 😜

I am so exited to watch IPL this year.... I have lost all hopes... But I knew one thing that BCCI will not give up on this as you have mentioned this is a "Cash cow" for them....

In the end I just want to say #DuniyaHilaDengeHum #MumbaiIndians

I am glad to hear that you have remained in touch with your favourite game. RCB is a fantastic team but needs that extra push. May be UAE would do the trick.

Great insights sir!

I feel sports particulary cricket has become a business losing its originality with ipl being fixed and being "cash cow" for its owners and bcci, sadly icc have also adopted method of fixing and earning huge money eg icc 2019 Wc finals

Thats little more than harsh on BCCI and specially IPL. I agree to the point that they seem to have over-commercialised cricket but it is also true that it has brought young talent from smaller towns in touch with world class players as well as joy of watching entertaining content for millions of people across the world.

Well how I see IPL is from an opportunity standpoint.... Opportunity for uncapped players to learn and showcase there talent.... And its not just cricket its almost every sport which are money focused... These day they put lot of money in marketing a sport's event that it kinda create a curiosity in people's mind... That's what every sports sector is doing...

This blog also helped me to know something new as like as your other blogs. Great insights.

Well i have two points here. Please help with your insights on those.

1. As this blog is on Platform and gaming, so I was expecting some insights on platforms like MPL, Facebook games and there are few other players who give platform to play different types of games. So whats your point on this Sir?

2. Sir You mentioned about IPL. We all know that IPL is one of the most loving cricket league in the world. BCCI being the richest cricket board of the world, invests huge money and it makes huge revenue from IPL as well. 2020 IPL will really make BCCI to bear some loss as the tournament wont allow any fan to the stadium. And Hotstar got the contract to broadcast the matches and it must have paid huge money to BCCI. So Sir do you think that Hotstar may revise its subscription policies before IPL? Now it will be like a monopoly situation in the industry. So can Hotstar take thik advantage to increase its subscription fees or launching any special supscription package specific for IPL 2020?

I did mention FB and FB gaming in passing but would be glad to analyse it later when I do a platform specific newsletter. They have the network effects and marquee suppliers on their side (Remember FarmVille) ! And they might actually turn up the heat when it is required.

It would attract tremendous amount of adverse media and regulatory attention if HotStar revises its subscription fees now. They might try to unbundle and sell it separately. If you liked their "Dil Bechara strategy" (Biggest opening for a movie on platform) )to offer content to drive subscription numbers, then perhaps they might try it again with IPL.

Another insightful piece, sir! After looking at this Mario, child memories came back in our mind. It's really interesting to see it again in an innovative manner. As per the Global web Index survey, one out of five people on Facebook watches sports online and now, Facebook is ready with post-match recaps after losing the bid. But an interesting move is to watch Hotstar that how will it increase the thickness permanently because mostly after the matches users switch to other options like Netflix or Amazon Prime who provide a range of other services along with content.

I am sure HotStar has access to additional original content other than IPL streaming. Real worry is whether IPL would have the same eyeballs if held outside India.

Sir I have been following the much awaited series of this summer between England and West Indies. Watching a live test match is no longer the same without listening to the crowd cheering for a classy shot or when the bells fly off. I think this creates an opportunity for EA Sports to recreate the emotions with their immersive gaming sound technology.

I did write about how more immersive experience could be created using some of the existing technologies especially in AR/VR.

A very interesting and useful read for me especially .Being a founder of a domestic sports promoting application initially it was alway a great challenge for me to get engagement into the platform .But the moment I opened the app in a manner more engagement and information can be attained the download number also started increasing gradually .And now its going to be a complete era of live-streaming but still not all games can we streamed due to bare minimum amount of Sponsorship in the domestic sports area were the legends are actually made .So I hope the platform I am working with also can give a lot of inputs in the coming era of complete digitalisation of sports .

Let the game grow 😊❤️

Aaahhh!!! One of my favourite newsletters of yours. I had not shown much interest in sports ever in my life.

I still remember my first day of run. It was you who introduced me to the world of run. From that day onwards, I have loved running.

I have also been a part of Garmin Indian Marathon. A good virtual running experience it is, indeed!!!

Unfortunate it is, that now everything has gone into a standby mode. Sometimes I just open my set of medals and look back to those virus-free days. :D

Loved reading your newsletter, Coach. Really!!!

This article gives an insight about untapped market and niche market where the battle is in between players intending to showcase their talent and audience want to recapture or experience the same through platform & from technology -innovation point of view still i guess the vision in terms of infrastructure is in dilemma, the definied supporting activities to new world game era is somewhat challenging and still undefined. As per research insights FY19 there were 300 million gamers in India and it is expected to grow upto 440 million gamers in India by the year 2022.Seeing the numbers, it prevails great oppournities for game developers, content providers and platform to provide experience and connect to multiple side of battle. Still it will interesting to watch whether like football leagues/clubs they create sepearte channel/fun clubs for real time expereince and considering the situation and to maintain viewership the role of Indian based Platforms will be interesting to watch their roadmap to sustain and increase the base map of viewers, players etc. Like Reliance group having owning a team in IPL and supporting many more sports communities in INDIA , looking forward to create platform exclusively for their fan followers and general viewership as we know recent tech giants investing jio.( Needless to mention their name). Recently Tata digital in collaboration with IHCL app called Qmin app allows guests to personalise their order, curate menus, and track deliveries in real-time. Users can choose their favourite cuisine from Taj restaurants in Mumbai, based on their location. On similar model franchise owning team in any sports look forward to attract more number of viewers.
