Ah!! Got a sense of positivity amidst all the negativity after reading this newsletter. Especially the last part...haha...tum hi ho 😊 one thing I realised while reading this is social distancing is not temporary. Considering the kind of impact this COVID-19 has had on the social as well as economic sphere, social distancing is going to become a way of life in the coming months which makes it all the more important to think of innovative and sustainable business platforms.
And I couldn’t agree more to this line “a man is a product Of his thoughts”- well experienced and tested statement. Infact I realised actions can simply go waste without a clear thought in mind. It was a good reminder to work on my thoughts...Thank you for this wonderful read Sir. Keep rocking like you always do 👍🏼
Amid coronavirus pandemic, platform businesses would indeed be on a downside since they solely run on margins and right now hardly anyone is coming in contact with platform businesses like Zomato or Uber due to health concerns and social distancing. In fact, the governments across different states have already started lockdowns, thereby leading to loss of revenue. I don't think these companies would pay their "partners" because most of them are in losses. Hopefully, the global platforms like Facebook would financially protect their employees till the end of the pandemic.
I wonder what kind of incentive structure would companies like Uber or Zomato would provide to the driver/delivery partners in order to recover the losses incurred during the lockdown.
Interesting insights , Aditya. Leaving partners now be "dangerous'" for business continuity when situation improves. I guess platforms would have to balance between conserving cash vs maintaining relationships.
I absolutely agree that many platform businesses have encouraged working remotely during this pandemic outbreak. All the consulting firms (catering B2B businesses) have enhanced social distancing by providing WFH to employees.
Utilisation of platforms are in full swing.
However Coach, can you tell me what about employees like us?
On one hand, we are outraged and panic-stricken by the information floating over social media (whether fraud or real). On the other hand, we are upset because of the fact that even though we have provision for WFH, we cannot apply that unless there is complete lockdown.
You might be surprised to know, I have gone for meetings to such hospitals, where corona virus infected patients are now quarantined in Calcutta.
On a lighter note, I am enthralled by the ending of the newsletter.
Thanks for your comments, Sami ! I am sure sooner than later traditional businesses would also have to make the switch to more tech supported channels. Crisis like Covid-19 would make this transitions faster.
After reading this edifying newsletter what comes in my mind is the rapid increase of time tracking apps by many companies in India. In this pandemic outbreak time tracking applications like toggl, harvest, everhour are tremendously used by many companies to track their employees while doing work from home. Although the apps were developed long back but the real contribution made by these applications is during this lock down and work from home period which i feel is a development in its own.
Good insights, Ashita. Location tracking may also become very powerful tool in covid-19 tracking but it has its side effects of privacy violations. Tracking employees especially in sales and other field jobs has also seen increased usage.

"A man is a product of his thoughts" is a very powerful message ! It can inspire us to be better in our attitude and keeping our ambitions higher.
